Francesc Teixidor is a Research Professor at the Materials Science Institute of Barcelona (ICMAB) that belongs to the Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC). He was born and raised in Verges, a small village in Girona. He then moved to Girona for High School and the first three years of University. Then moved to the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona for the last two university years to get the Chemistry Degree and continued there for master and PhD degrees under the supervision of Prof. Heribert Barrera that combined chemistry and politics and became the first president of the Catalan Parliament. With Rudolph he was initiated in the field of Boron Clusters and Zintl phases. Back to the UAB in 1982 he got an assistant Prof. Position.  To improve his organometallic background, he moved to Bristol to work with Mike Green for a few months stay. He then applied for a position at the newly created ICMAB to be an associate Professor, and later a Research Professor. Most of his research life has been associated with carboranes and metallacarboranes and their prospective applications.
